Under TAGDev 1.0, smallholder farmers successfully accessed quality planting material for potatoes, boosting their agricultural production and income. Building on this success, the TAGDev 2.0 ASEC project will focus on upscaling community action research and production of certified seed potatoes through the Potato Value Chain. This approach will enhance farmers' access to quality and affordable seed potatoes, thereby increasing food and income security. Farmer groups already practicing clean seed potato production, such as Green Vision in Molo, will be facilitated for certification by the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Services, improving access to affordable certified seed potatoes. The project aims to reach at least 38,500 farmers, offering services that include seed production, bulking, value addition, and extension services. By strengthening the seed potato value chain, TAGDev 2.0 will not only boost potato productivity but also contribute to enhanced food security, improved livelihoods, and the growth of the local agricultural economy.
