The Tunza Punda Initiative is a youth-driven creative storytelling and advocacy platform based at Egerton University, under the TAGDev Program’s EgerHub. In partnership with Farming Systems Kenya and Brooke East Africa, the initiative seeks to raise awareness on the often-overlooked issue of donkey welfare in rural agricultural communities.
Donkeys are indispensable in transporting water, farm produce, and goods—playing a vital role in supporting rural livelihoods. However, many face neglect, mistreatment, and harsh working conditions. Tunza Punda (Swahili for Care for the Donkey) aims to shift mindsets and behavior through powerful storytelling, digital content, and community engagement.
